We promise to focus on your individual needs and always treat you like a client who matters. Feel free to reach out to learn more about what we can do for you!
Please reach us at (828) 604-6906 if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Employers are required to send W-2 forms by January 31 each year or the next business day if the date falls on a weekend or holiday.
Best option is to contact your employer and request a copy of the W-2. Another option is to print your W-2 from ESS (Employee Self Service). If you do not have access to ESS, call BEST Shared Services at 919-707-0707 to request a reprint. Third option is to pull a Wage Transcript from your IRS account but not advised because it only shows partial federal information and not state withholding information.
Your time is valuable, so we try to reduce unnecessary wait times. No appointment is needed for your initial visit. You could expect to spend 5 minutes in order to provide information and documents that are needed to complete your tax filing. We will review your filing status and any changes that may have occurred over the last year. Once we have all your information and documentation you are done and no need to wait in the office. We file returns based on the order we receive them but generally takes a week or less. Our tax specialists will complete your taxes and then call to schedule a review time. During this review, a tax specialist will go through your return with you (and spouse) and obtain the signatures required to process the return with IRS. The review is not necessary if you choose to decline, but you (and spouse) will need to stop back by the office for signatures so that the return can be submitted to the IRS.
Not at all! Simply swing by at your convenience to drop off your documents for this year.
Rushed for time or only have 2 minutes? We have a green drop box inside our lobby - simply take an envelope from the top, put your documents in the envelope with your name/phone number written on it and drop inside the green drop box.
After-hours? No problem! We have a drop slot in the door. Have all of your documents together in an envelope with your name/number on the outside and drop them in the door drop slot. Then the documents will be waiting for us when we come in the next morning.
While it is always nice to see everyone, it isn't necessary for all individuals to come to the first visit. That time is solely to gather all the information needed to get the taxes ready. As long as you have all the information and documents, then your spouse is not required. However, after the taxes are ready to file then both individuals will need to stop by the office (can be together or separately) to sign the completed returns for us to file with the IRS.
Most of the information we need will be on the Client Form found here.
You should always retain a copy of your tax return. We recommend that you retain the last 5 years. The IRS uses the AGI as a way to validate identity.
If you used a paid preparer last year, you can request a copy of your return from that preparer. If you used an online software, you should be able to access a copy on that software.
On your tax return, AGI is on line 8b of Form 1040. If this is your first time filing (over age 16), enter zero (0) as your AGI.
If you are unable to obtain a copy of last year's return, you can also get your AGI using one of the IRS self service tools:
- Access your online account through the IRS portal here.
- Use Get Transcript by Mail or call 800-908-9946 if you cannot pass the Secure Access and need to request a Tax Return Transcript (use ONLY the "Adjusted Gross Income" line entry. This will take 5-10 days for delivery.
If this is our first time preparing your return, we want to ensure the information being entered is correct. The IRS validates the information entered and if a name is not entered exactly as shown on the SSN card then it could cause a delay in your refund.
If you are a return client, then no need to bring your SSN cards again.
We don't believe in charging hundreds of dollars for a simple file. Our preparation fees start at $100. If you are a straightforward tax filing with no itemizations, you could expect the $100 fee. If you are a simple filer claiming various credits (EITC, Child Tax, etc.), you could expect a $120 fee. If you are a small business or need a longer itemized filing, the price would be slightly higher according to the number of schedules we are filing. S-corp filings start at $450 and we offer monthly/quarterly bookkeeping as well. Our goal is to provide accurate and fast tax preparation at an affordable price to keep more of your return in your wallet where it belongs.
For the tax preparation fee, we accept cash, check, debit card or credit card payment. Please note that the return will be electronically submitted once payment is received.
We are a small family-owned business with the goal of keeping tax preparation fees lower for you. We would have to deal with a 3rd party bank provider who charges higher rates for those services and it would cause the preparation fees to be increased by $100 or more in most cases to cover the 3rd party costs. Since our goal is to have lower costs for you, those 2 services are not offered at this time.
We are able to help you file any Federal or State tax return. But if you want to review any of the forms needed, they can be found here.
The IRS provides a Withholding Calculator to help you determine the proper amount to avoid having too much or too little Federal income tax withheld from your paychecks. You can access the Withholding Calculator here.
